Characters from this year’s Belgrade Theatre pantomime, Dick Whittington, will switch on the Christmas tree lights at Belgrade Plaza on Friday 25th November, accompanied by a choir of carol singers and local Salvation Army band.

The switch on will take place from 5.15pm and will include Iain Lauchlan (Dame Sarah the Cook) and Craig Hollingsworth (Idle Jack) mingling with the crowd and turning the tree lights on to celebrate the start of the panto, the Christmas shopping (and festive parking!) season, and all the Christmas meals that will be enjoyed at Pizza Express, Bella Italia and Café Rouge.

Children from Years 5 and 6 at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School will sing Christmas songs around the tree, and have been practicing for the occasion. Headteacher, Mrs Sherratt said “the children are delighted to be able to showcase their festive voices at Belgrade Plaza. Many of them have visited the theatre with their families, or have plans to enjoy the panto, so they’re also excited to meet the stars of the show!”

The Coventry City Salvation Army Band will also be playing a short set that evening. Hayley Peaple of the Coventry City Salvation Army said “We’re honoured to be able to play to those arriving to enjoy the festivities, or to park at Belgrade Plaza or to eat there prior to the pantomime, and will be collecting donations”.

The pantomime at Belgrade Theatre runs from Wednesday 23 November until Saturday 7 January. Tickets can be purchased here

Customers can find parking at Belgrade Plaza car park, and delicious pre-theatre dining is available at Bella Italia, Café Rouge and Pizza Express, all located just steps away from the theatre.
