Fun for all the family in the Belgrade Theatre’s Ghoulish Ghost Hunt

03/04/2013

Keep the kids entertained this Easter by taking part in the Belgrade Theatre’s family friendly charity ghost hunt, in preparation for The Horrible Histories, which returns to the Main Stage from the 2 to 6 April. All proceeds raised will support the theatre’s Give the Gift of Theatre campaign.

To take part in the event and for your chance to win a family ticket to see James and the Giant Peach on Tuesday 11 June at the Belgrade Theatre, just pick up a ghost hunt trail from the Belgrade Box Office from Tuesday 2 April. The trail will provide clues leading you to haunted venues in the city centre. You will then need to visit the venues and make note of the different code words written on the Horrible Histories posters displayed at each venue.

Once you’ve finished the hunt and collected all of the code words, just return your completed trail to the Belgrade Theatre Box Office, where you will be asked to make a minimum donation of £1 to enter. The winner of the family ticket for James and the Giant Peach will be picked at random from all correct entries. The closing date for entries is Monday 15 April. The winner will be notified by Friday 19 April.

As a registered charity, all funds raised from this ghoulish gander around the city will help support the Belgrade’s Give the Gift of Theatre Campaign, which aims to give families facing financial hardship the opportunity to experience live theatre at the Belgrade.

The Belgrade’s Executive Director, Joanna Reid said, “The current economic crisis is piling stress on so many people. They must yearn for a bit of a break to spend some quality time with their family when they are not worrying about how to pay the bills, and to be able to give their children a treat. There is nothing like the communal experience of live theatre to lift the spirits and make people feel special.  We know from experience that the Give the Gift of Theatre has met these needs and this is why we are continuing the campaign.”

The Belgrade launched the Give the Gift of Theatre campaign last Christmas to coincide with its pantomime, Sleeping Beauty. Both individuals and members of the Belgrade’s Directors’ Club made generous donations to the scheme and as a result 200 children and their families were able to experience the Belgrade’s Panto.  The visit not only gave them much needed quality time with their families but also helped to break down the sense of isolation that some families in financial need particularly feel at Christmas.

The Belgrade Theatre Trust (Coventry) Ltd is a registered charity (No 219163), so all of the money raised and earned by the theatre is reinvested in the services it provides to the local community. Amongst other things, these services include, creating and staging high quality productions on the Main Stage and in B2, working with young people and local communities via the Community & Education Company and developing the careers of young people who want to work in the arts.
